Maria Menounos

In the course of caring for her mother, suffering from stage 4 brain cancer, Maria realized she was in the midst of a health crisis that was her own. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. In the cover story in PEOPLE Menounos admits that she'd been suffering from headaches and lightheadedness on sets. "My speech was becoming slow and I was experiencing trouble using the Teleprompter". An MRI found Menounos to have a huge-sized meningioma brain tumour which has grown to the size of a golf ball. The tumour was pressing the facial nerves. Menounos scheduled an appointment with her mother's doctor famous neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black The surgery was scheduled to be performed on June 8 - her birthday. She says that he said, "I am 98 percent sure that it's benign but we will not know until we get into there," Dr. Black managed to eliminate 99.9% of benign tumors with a complicated surgery that took seven hours. "He told me there's an 8% to 7% probability that it'll occur again," she says. Yet, I'll consider these odds any day of the week. Returning home from a six-day hospital stay, Menounos recuperating and enjoying time with her mother Litsa who's most recent MRI confirms that her cancer remains stable. Maria Maria Maria
